It also assumes you are working on a 64-bit Linux machine. Before proceeding to the installation of OBIEE do the following:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tip #1<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Open your terminal window and type: &#8220;sqlplus \/ as sysdba&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Wait for a while and type &#8220;startup&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Type &#8220;exit&#8221; in your terminal and again type &#8220;lsnrctl start&#8221;. <!--more--> &#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>When you reach the point for Database Connection Details in Repository Creation Utility (RCU) do the following:<\/p>\n<p>Tip #2 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pawebgate.com\/blogging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/obiee-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-343\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pawebgate.com\/blogging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/obiee-3.jpg\" alt=\"rcu-connection-details\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pawebgate.com\/blogging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/obiee-3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.pawebgate.com\/blogging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/obiee-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pawebgate.com\/blogging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/obiee-3-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hos<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">t<\/span> Name: localhost<\/p>\n<p>P<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">o<\/span>rt: 1521<\/p>\n<p>Search for file called &#8220;tnsnames.ora&#8221; in you Oracle installation folder, something like (\/oracle\/app\/oracle\/product\/11.2.0\/db_1\/network\/admin) and fill in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">S<\/span>ervice Name: appropriately.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">U<\/span>sername: sys<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">P<\/span>assword: The password used when installing Oracle. &#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>After installing RCU, proceed to the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) installation.<br \/>\nBefore you do the installation follow the tip below:<\/p>\n<p>Tip #3<\/p>\n<p>Search for file called &#8220;ORAPARAM.ini&#8221; in a location like &#8220;bishiphome\/Disk1\/install\/linux64&#8243; and append the following line:<\/p>\n<p>JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=&#8221; -mx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=1024m&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This will prevent the installation from hanging and finally failing. It is very frustrating to fail, uninstall and start the process again!
