Most of the times, themes are accompanied with additional information, which make them vulnerable from being hacked. A typical example of this kind of information is given below:
Theme Name: Ony Happy Cloud
Theme URI: http://example.com/free-base-wordpress-theme
Author URI: http://www.example.com
Basically this is everything all other users need, to hack your theme.
Q: So, how to prevent WordPress Theme Hacking?
A: Browsers allow users have a first hand experience with your source code. Whether you are using Firefox or IE or Chrome there is a View Page Source button to get access to the source code. If its WordPress source code, then you will get a line like:
<link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” media=”all” href=”http://www.example.com/wp-content/themes/onehappyclound/style.css“>
If you click on the http part of the line of code, you will get the access to the css code of the WordPress Theme used. Inside this code you will also find code like the additional information described above which gives a clue about the Theme URI and actually where to find it on the internet.
So, by deleting these lines of comment code from the CSS file, you have reached the first level if security for your WordPress Theme.
